KILIM CUSHION COVER SALE AT TANGERINE DREAM

Come down to the gallery on Saturday, May 4th, when our friend Suzanne will be selling a variety of wool kilim cushion covers, rugs, and grain sacks that she recently brought back from Turkey. I had never seen a grain sack before and was picturing something like a burlap coffee sack - they are intricately patterned and gorgeous, as are all of the cushion covers. Some forms available for purchase as well.

Sizes range from 16" to 22"
Rug is 48" x 48"

A few are shown below, many more will be on offer on the 4th. Come down and view these beautiful treasures from Turkey.

Featured Artist of the Week - Cheryl Bakke Martin

“The creative is the place where no one else has ever been.
You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition.
What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is Yourself.”
- Alan Alda

Cheryl Bakke Martin's vibrant, colourful and original kiln and flame worked glass jewelry pieces are true works of art. We are so pleased to have her necklaces, bracelets, and hair sticks brightening up our gallery. Cheryl's jewelry comes in a wide range of prices - truly something for every budget. Come in and try some on yourself!

"From an aesthetic standpoint, I am consistently attracted to vivid color which I believe is appealing to many as well as me. I see myself as an artisan and craftsperson first, as I am drawn to use the tools – hammers, anvils, and torches I grew up with, but it is the unique and varied ways to combine seemingly unrelated media, processes and disciplines that I find most engaging.  So, to choose one art form would most likely be the antithesis of inspiration for me.  As an example, what begins as a large painting, often ends up framed in miniature as a focal stained glass element for a piece of jewelry that combines with it lampworked glass and metalwork.  I am happiest when I move from my Spirit, working with the media and process that inspires me most in the moment."
