It's November...and It's Raining Men!

We have a terrific men's show this month at the gallery! Come and see the featured works of local artists Dale Nigel Goble, Daniel Deschamps and Roger Jackson. We are also showing the colourful and whimsical work of Robert Cerins, and the paintings of Victoria's Andy Gifford.

Dale Nigel Goble is an artist and illustrator whose work has been featured in newspapers, magazines, television and in digital media, both locally and abroad. He has completed projects for Heineken, Aritzia, London Drugs, Bacardi and many others, and his work is held in private collections internationally, as well as the Children's Museum of Manhattan, and the White House in Washington DC.

Daniel Deschamps is from the South Pacific island of New Caledonia. He and his family left the island during a period of civil unrest in 1989, and immigrated to Canada. Daniel's multicultural heritage is reflected in his art. A prolific artist, Daniel moves between the mediums of stonework, pottery, paper, and canvas, often re-purposing found objects and painting on cardboard, or sculpting  in foam. Daniel recently won an Award of Merit for a pen and ink illustration titled "Oracion" in the Cowichan Valley's 2010 SASS-e Spring Art Show Sale and Extravaganza.

Roger Jackson has been painting for over 20 years, but after retiring on 2009 he began devoting more time to his passion. Influenced by impressionists and post-impressionists, Roger and enjoys painting with both oils and acrylics. His European buildings and current "work boat series" capture the essence of the individual scenes beautifully and draw the viewer in, whether it is a narrow alley in Italy or a tugboat in the Victoria harbour. Roger is a member of the Canadian Federation of Artists.

Andy Gifford, a former farmer from Tennessee, says it is his job to "paint like the dickens." After his farming days were behind him he planted trees in Northern Ontario. A train trip to Moosonee in Northern Canada, that Andy called "The Polar Bear Express" exposed him to the lives and migration patterns of caribou, bears, and buffalo, which he later captured on canvas.

Robert Cerins has painted over five hundred paintings in watercolour, acrylic and oils. He loves experimenting with painting on a variety of surfaces,  and has painted on glass, canvas, wood, and aluminum, to name a few. A long time resident of the Cowichan Valley, Robert's whimsical and boldly executed paintings are found throughout the community, such as the 24' x 7' Evergreen School mural, and the "Robertoe" Spirit Bear. Robert's positive and upbeat nature is evident in his art.
